Job Description

The associate/youth pastor shall serve as a right hand to the lead pastor and shall assist in carrying out the ministry of the church. The main responsibilities will involve preaching, teaching, outreach through online ministry, ministering to spiritual and physical needs, assuming the lead pastor’s role as needed, and using your own gifts and abilities to serve and build up the church.


Talents or abilities desired: Able to serve as a support person to the lead pastor, experience in preaching/teaching, a desire to minister to people, organizational skills, some training in counseling is a plus.


Best personality traits: Dependable, discreet, friendly, compassionate, teachable


Passion for: Supporting the lead pastor and ministering to people


Anticipated time commitments:

1.      Doing ministry/preparing for ministry: average of 40 hours per week, off on Mondays and some Saturdays, except for emergencies and special occasions

2.      Participating in meetings/trainings: 6-8 hours per month


Main responsibilities include:

-         Preaching 1-2 times a month

-         Leading youth ministry and teaching monthly, including planning special trips and events

-         Helping with outreach events and online ministry

-         Helping with administrative tasks and special projects

-         Ministering to spiritual and physical needs

-         Follow up and visitations

-         Some Biblical counseling

-         Some weddings/funerals

-         Using your gifts and abilities to serve


Qualifications:

1. Must be a born-again Christian, with a consistent and committed Christian life.

2. Must agree with the 16 Fundamentals Truths of the Assemblies of God.

3. Must be willing to submit to and work with the leadership of Hillside Assembly of God.

4. Must have administrative skills to organize volunteers and delegate responsibilities to volunteer teams.

5. Must display character of a servant leader.

6. Must have the heart of a team player and work well with Lead Pastor, staff and volunteers.

7. Must be willing to do what it takes for the success of Hillside Assembly of God. This means be willing to do whatever needs to be accomplished at the direction of and in coordination with the Lead Pastor.

8. Need at least a certificate of ministry with the Assemblies of God, but willing to work toward getting ordained.


Accountability:

The Associate Pastor reports directly to the Lead Pastor, who will conduct an annual evaluation of the adequacy of compensation and other employment issues. The Deacon Board will be advised and consulted regarding expenses, concerns, and special events.

In 2015, Hillside restarted a church in Pound, WI, which has become an extension campus for the main campus in Gillett, WI.
