This person will dedicate himself/herself to making disciples of Middle School and High School aged students at Journey Church. (Grades 5-12.)


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Weekly Youth Group Meetings

Responsible to organize all aspects of youth groups for Students. Currently the Middle School meets Wednesday Nights from 6:00-7:30pm. The High School meets from 7:00-8:30 Wednesday nights. We also have a grade 5/6 group that meets once a month on Wednesday nights during the Middle School time.


2. Big Events

Organize and administrate events for students that assist in the overall plan to make apprentices of Jesus.


3. Sunday Mornings

Organize and teach the Affirmation Class for 8th graders held on Sunday mornings. On Sunday’s when the class doesn’t meet this person will assist in any way needed to help Sunday morning worship services comes together. This includes setting up on Saturday (when available) and tearing down after the service on Sunday.


4. Contacting

Contacting students is important. This person will to work hard to make contact with students outside of church events by attending games, plays, etc.

 

5. Volunteer Recruitment and care

Our student ministry leader will encourage, equip and inspire a team of volunteers to minister to students.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

·     Completely sold out to the vision and mission of Journey Church. We are a church that reaches skeptics, cynics and people stalled out on their faith journey by creating a church for people who don’t like church.

·     Able to relate to students, parents, and staff with grace and kindness, and patience. A “people person”.

·     Flexible, teachable, and a team player.


KEY RELATIONSHIPS

·     Reports to Lead Pastor and works closely with entire staff.

·     Supports and works with a large group of volunteer ministry coordinators.



 Other Info

·     The expected hours of work is about 45 hours a week. 

·     Salary range is 45-50k.

·     Healthcare is not provided to any employees of Journey and will need to be secured privately.

·     Journey will match retirement funds at 50% of contributions up to 3%. 

·     Three weeks (15 workdays) of paid vacation.  This may include 3 Sunday’s a year.


About Journey:

Journey Church began in 2009. We currently average about 500 people on a Sunday morning.  We are currently in the process of building a 36k foot building in Gretna, scheduled to be complete by June of 2022.
