Youth Minister or Youth Ministry Director

Position

We are looking for a committed Christ-follower excited to serve the Lord, and culturally-diverse students (6 th – 12th grade) and their families, as a full-time Youth Ministry Director or Youth Minister. This individual will shepherd our youth (25-35 combined currently), lead a volunteer team (6-10 weekly adult volunteers currently), and equip parents and families that span across two congregations.

About Our Church

The Crossing is the English-speaking, multiethnic ministry of Chinese For Christ Church of Hayward, a non-denominational, evangelical Christian church in the East Bay Area, CA. We are a growing community of believers connecting to God in authentic worship, and to people in genuine relationships. Although we started as an Asian-American church, we've grown into a multicultural ministry serving Hayward, Castro Valley, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, and Union City. We're looking for someone who will catch our vision of “crossing generations and cultures together in Christ to love God, love people, and serve the world.”

Job Description

• Develop and implement an integrated overall program for Youth Ministry
• Oversee all Youth Ministry programs:
• Friday night youth program (Footprints)
• Sunday middle school & high school Christian education classes
• Youth special events (annual youth retreat, outreaches, and outings)
• Shepherd through care and visitation of students and families; equip and partner with parents
• Recruit and train Youth Ministry volunteers and leadership team
• Select and/or prepare curriculum for all programs under Youth Ministry
• Participate in local outreach and missions
• Preach in English worship service once a month
• Work with Children’s Ministry to develop a transition plan for students to Youth Ministry

Requirements

• Faith and beliefs consistent with Chinese for Christ Church of Hayward (CFCC Hayward)
• Demonstrate gifts of leadership, teaching, and shepherding
• Strong relational and communication skills
• A passion to work with youth and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Ability to coordinate ministry activities, and to train and mobilize volunteers
• Ability to work well with pastors and leadership to fully integrate youth ministry with the church
• Familiarity with Asian-American culture(s) and the evolving community at CFCC Hayward
• Education: Master of Divinity degree preferred (or equivalent). If without seminary training, expectation to obtain necessary seminary and professional training
