Associate Director of Music

Reports to: Director of Music and Associate Pastor


Job Summary

The Associate Director of Music will work to coordinate music ministry at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in partnership with the Director of Music, church leadership, volunteers, musicians and other participants. Be present and participate in services. Lead the spiritual growth of members and volunteers as it relates to worship and the fine arts. Suggested number of hours per week: 10-12. Hiring to begin June 1.


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

·        Bachelor’s degree in music preferred. (Experience in lieu of education will be considered)

·        Previous experience in church music required.

·        Previous experience with contemporary Christian worship preferred.

·        A professed faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

·        A passion for worship.

·        The ability to read music, sing, and conduct groups of musicians.

·        Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

·        Ability to prioritize tasks.

·        Ability to function in a high-paced environment.


Essential Functions

 (Subject to change)

·        Lead the corporate blended worship band.

·        Assist the Director of Music in selecting appropriate music for traditional and the blended worship services.

·        Oversee and coordinate middle school and high school Youth Music groups/activities in cooperation with Youth Pastor and Director of Music.

·        Assist Director of Music in updating the annual Fine Arts calendar.

·        Meet with the Director of Music, pastors and worship planning committee to keep a shared vision.

·        As available, attend weekly staff meetings and other staff retreats/meetings.

These functions are not to restrict the Associate Director of Music to the above bullet point. These functions serve as a minimal guideline, which could change based on the selected candidate.
