Pastor of Leadership and Community Engagement

Soma Church Eastside through Context Staffing

Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Soma Eastside Church is a vibrant, community-focused, Gospel-centered church located on the Eastside of Seattle. The church was planted in 2005 by 10 adults following the call of Jesus to make disciples where He was not known and currently is a church of 300+ including 12 Missional Communities that engage family, neighbors, and co-workers across the region. Their vision is to make disciples of Jesus on the Eastside and around the Puget Sound so that every man, woman, and child has a daily encounter with Jesus in word and deed. Towards that end, they live in "community on mission" and declare the Gospel fearlessly and love sacrificially. The church is part of the Soma Family of Churches, and the Acts 29 Network.

Soma Eastside is currently looking for a Pastor of Leadership and Community Engagement to join their strong, diverse, and hard-working team. This person will help coach staff and key volunteers towards implementing the vision of the church as they make disciples on the Eastside.

THE COMMUNITY

Soma Eastside Church is located at the intersection of Issaquah and Sammamish 18 miles east of Seattle. Seattle is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes and views in the country nestled between snow-peaked mountains and a boat-filled harbor. The location is a huge attraction for outdoor activity ranging from hiking, skiing, to kayaking. There are also dozens of festivals offered throughout the year in art, music, and food. Most famously being the birthplace of Starbucks, Seattle has continued to have a thriving coffee scene, making it a coffee lovers’ paradise. Despite all of the changes of 2020, Seattle remains one of the top-ranked cities that people are moving to.

The Eastside is a fast-growing wealthy region that is known for innovative companies like Microsoft, Amazon, T-Mobile US, Expedia, and Costco. Located in King County, the heart of population in Washington State, the area has long been a target of church planters because of its low percentage of Christians. Issaquah and Sammamish is a rapidly growing area and attracts workers from every corner of the US and around the world. The area is highly educated, diverse, and driven. There are daily opportunities to show and share the Gospel with those who have never heard the Gospel or seen it lived out in an authentic way.
