FAITH COMMUNITY CHURCH

WHO WE ARE

Faith Community Church is a family on mission.  We seek scripture for the basis of what we do and seek to live out our mission with the guidance of the Holy Spirit:  To make disciples who are growing Up (with the Father), In (with community) and Out (into the neighborhood)…no excuses.  Our hope and dream for Faith Community Church (FCC) is to see a thriving community with intergenerational ministry and mission focus.

FCC was founded in 1976 in a shopping mall and was located in the southern suburbs of Denver, not far from Columbine High School.  It has enjoyed robust years of growth but has steadily declined and is now a congregation of 88 members.  FCC’s member demographic is ethnically white and higher in age with few members under 30 years old and is comprised of dedicated and faithful individuals.  The building is situated on 5 acres on a main thoroughfare, providing great visibility and ease of entrance.

Sunday morning worship is the congregation’s primary vehicle for participation, which is supported by the spiritual gifts of Shepherd and Teacher.  Our relationship with God is cherished and we enjoy worship together.  We express the gifts of Shepherd and Teacher well and see opportunities in Apostolic, Prophetic and Evangelistic gifts.  Within the three-dimensional ministry (3DM) model, we have not proven adept in our mission out to the community.

Our culture of non-pastoral staff and lay involvement with Sunday morning worship has been established in recent years such as pulpit supply ranging intergenerationally, volunteer worship team, and members opening their homes for missional communities’ gatherings.  Staff includes part-time positions of one commissioned pastor, worship leader, administrative assistant, and volunteer financial and building & grounds leaders.  Current Sunday mornings are planned and led by our worship leader with the band/praise team and a rotating team of pulpit supply from either staff or partner ministry leader.  Currently, our worship leader and commissioned pastor establish the sermon series of the current season.  The roles of Sunday mornings have been distributed for sustainability.

Mission is a priority with 10% of the annual budget supporting local and international missions.  FCC also incubated some local missions.  Many congregants volunteer for some of these independent missions.

The primary targeted place of influence at FCC is the missional community groups.  These groups are predominately member based in attendance.  A weekday morning devotions group following the Moravian New Testament text has been operating for the past year via Zoom with a live link on Facebook, and recordings may be accessed through our home page for later listening.  Our engagement with the immediate neighborhood is lacking.

We anticipate the candidate for lead pastor will lead us to restore the broad functionality of Christ’s body to fulfill His mission at FCC.  We recognize disruption is necessary to achieve transformation for the Holy Spirit to use us for God’s glory.
