Job Summary

EdgeKids, the children’s ministry of The Edge, provides relevant, age appropriate learning and connection opportunities for kids from birth to 6th grade. During all weekend worship experiences, ministry for kids is provided and executed by a large base of volunteers led by the EdgeKids Pastor.

The EdgeKids Pastor will work with the Campus Pastor to achieve the goals of The Edge. They will also be responsible for the specific goals related to a successful EdgeKids ministry.

You will:

  • Grow campus attendance by creating and implementing a strategy that draws families in to the church through the EdgeKids ministry
  • Lead and develop teams and volunteers so that they are operating in their strengths and being most effective in their roles on the EdgeKids team
  • Create a presence of EdgeKids ministry in the community
  • Minister to the families and aid in connecting what happens on the weekend with what happens at home
  • Be a model for those who attend The Edge by being an example of personal integrity, discipleship, and evangelism


Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and organize children’s ministry at The Edge.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of EdgeKids policies and procedures at The Edge and enforce compliance.
  • Comply with EdgeKids ministry facility standards.
  • Develop and uphold training processes for kids Leaders within EdgeKids.
  • Work closely with EdgeKids classroom coaches
  • Lead and build teams to execute all aspects of children’s ministry for weekend experiences.
  • Discover, develop and deploy high quality leaders for all EdgeKids needs.
  • Consistent weekly communication with key leaders and parents.
  • Develop healthy community among parents and equip parents for discipleship.
  • Oversee all aspects of EdgeKids department administration to include: payroll, P.O. processing, budget forecasting, purchasing, and departmental account tracking.
  • Responsible for staffing: interviewing process, recruitment of new team members, team training, employee reviews, Leader and volunteer recruitment.
  • Help develop and maintain all safety standards for EdgeKids.
  • Track personal and ministry growth for future development.
  • Oversee and develop the Sunday experiences for all children.
  • Maintain consistent curriculum from Life.Church found on Open.Church.
  • Oversee special event planning to include but not limited to Summer Camp, Easter, EdgeKids Events & Volunteer appreciation events.
  • Oversee quality of weekend experiences and function.
  • Fulfill and coordinate pastoral duties including counseling, baptism, communion, hospital visitation, and general pastoral care.
  • Empower members of the EdgeKids team to use their gifts to be involved in mentoring, baptism, hospital visits, and communication.
  • Lead department meetings and empower EdgeKids team members to fulfill their unique roles.
  • Oversee and develop all internal and external communication that represents the EdgeKids department.
  • Maintain strong communication and connection with Lead Pastor to ensure the vision of the Lead Pastor is implemented in all aspects of family ministry.


Qualifications and Skills

Experience and Knowledge Required:

  • Ability to communicate the Gospel through various means to children at various ages.
  • Leadership background and experience serving with kids.
  • Have a heart for children and parents.
  • Proven ability to lead volunteers and EdgeKids leadership team.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to articulate and implement the mission and vision of The Edge.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Great interpersonal skills working with The Edge leaders, parents and kids.
  • Solid theological grounding in line with The Edge and the Life.Church kids’ ministry curriculum.
  • Computer competency in Planning Center, Google Drive applications, etc.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Have a strong pursuit of excellence through attention to detail.
