Overview

For over 65 years Mesa Baptist Church has been reaching our community and the world for Christ. Today, Mesa Baptist is searching for our next Lead Pastor, one that we believe God has already prepared for us. Mesa Baptist, a church of 200+, is a loving community of multi-ethnic, multi-generational people. We are Christ followers in the Berean style of ministry that is very committed to the authority of God's Word. Focusing on discipleship and equipping of the saints for the purpose of saving the lost.

Job Description

Preaching

Preaching of the Word is a high priority of our Lead Pastor, therefore it is our desire that our Pastor have sufficient time carved out of his schedule for his own spiritual enrichment and refreshment so that he might experience continued growth in his relationship with the Lord. Consequently, the planning and preparation for weekly preaching, and the personal prayer and Bible study that support that activity, are of a high priority.

Leadership

We depend on our Lead Pastor to develop and maintain vision and keep it before us as a congregation. In his oversight of staff and interaction with the Elder and Deacon Board, he must build a "team" environment.  It is important that he leads people to fulfill our Mission Statement, while caring for the staff daily.

Shepherding

Our Lead Pastor helps create the environment envisioned by our Mission Statement. He builds us into a community and nurtures us in our faith and walk. Equips others to shepherd the flock and community.

Requirements:

• A man called to teach the inerrant Word of God
• Meets biblical qualifications of an Elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1: 5-9)
• A God given vision for the Great Commission and Great Commandment
• Effective experienced expository preacher and communicator 
• Full agreement with Constitution / Bylaws and Doctrinal Statement of MBC
• Submit to and pass a criminal back-ground check.

Experience/Education:

• Ordained through accredited and recognized association or denomination
• Seminary or equivalent degree (i.e. MDiv or other Masters)
• Prior lead pastor experience on multi-pastoral staff OR supervisory position on large church multi-pastoral staff
• Record of effective leadership as a collaborator, delegator - setting vision and mission for a church
• Experience in cross cultural setting, demonstrates intercultural sensitivity
• Bi-lingual, English and Spanish (preferred not required)
