Children's Associate Director


Pleasant City Church is located in Shelby, NC. We have an average Sunday attendance of 1100 with a Children's Ministry involving a weekly average of 210 children from Birth-5th grade. Our church exists to love God, connect with others, and reach the world. FULL-TIME POSITION WITH A SALARY RANGE of $38K- $45K (based on experience)

Responsibilities: The Associate Children's Director collaborates with the Children’s Pastor and assists with the administration and operation of all facets of children's ministry at Pleasant City Church.


Engages, equips, and encourages families to take ownership of their child’s spiritual growth.


Helps plan and coordinate Sunday morning large group worship and connect groups, Wednesday kids zone, summer day activities, vacation bible school, date night events, Seeds of Faith Homeschool Coop and a summer overnight camp.


Assist in counseling, mentoring and visiting children based on situations and needs.


Helps recruit, train and supervise all aspects of volunteers that serve within the children's ministry.  


Ensures all volunteers complete the proper application paperwork for background checks.  


Assists in preparing budgets in related areas of responsibilities and work within the budget assigned.


Collaborates with the PreK Director to meet the needs of the PreK ministry.


Assists the Mothers Morning Out director and the Prek director in evaluating/updating the children's ministry curriculum and supplies. 


Helps monitor the weekly volunteer vacancies and recruit to fill those slots.


Learns the operation of computers, audio/video and children registration equipment related to the children's ministry. 

 

Use social media to keep volunteers and parents informed of scheduling, events, activities and teaching to keep them involved and encouraged in the ministry.


Assist in maintaining a healthy and safe environment of children's facilities and grounds.


Assist in maintaining storage facilities and space management within the buildings.


Collaborates with pastoral staff to oversee church-wide events and recreation.



General Expectations:  


Must be a person who demonstrates a call to ministry and a daily walk with the Lord.


Must be a tithing member of the Church body.


Must be a person of integrity and discipline.


Must have a family that supports the ministry of the Church with regular attendance and participation.


Must be a team player, keep regular office hours and attend staff meetings.


Must be knowledgeable of child safety & insurance policies.


Highly encouraged to attend a Children’s or Family Ministry Conference once a year.


Must work under the supervision of the Lead Pastor and Children’s Pastor.
