Job Description

This role will oversee the development and implementation of the Christ Church discipleship process and leadership development, ensuring a clear path for every member to become a fully devoted follower of Christ and to help every member find their proper fit in our local community. In many ways this role is similar to that of an executive pastor minus the financial/operations responsibilities. This role also includes weekend teaching 6 – 8 times a year. The successful candidate will exhibit strong teaching, leadership, and administrative gifts.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Christ Church Identity

Promote and support all Christ Church Identity/DNA including the Mission Statement, Core Values, Playbooks, and the Christ Church Ministry “Funnel”.

  • Assist the senior pastor in vision, mission, preaching, teaching, and pastoral care of Christ Church.
  • Oversee the evangelism and outreach strategy and efforts of Christ Church.
  • Oversee the discipleship, life group ministry, and leadership development.
  • Oversee volunteer recruitment and development of teams.


Shepherding Duties

Assist the senior pastor in preaching, teaching, and pastoral care of Christ Church.

  • Speaking from the pulpit 6-8xs per year
  • Speaking for Special events (Men’s, Marriage, Parent Conferences, etc.)
  • Assist in counseling responsibilities of church families and members.
  • Aid in cultivating a culture of prayer at the office and church.


Discipleship Duties

Oversee the discipleship process and leadership development of Christ Church members.

  • Oversee the Life Group curriculum and schedule for the year.
  • Support the recruiting and training of new Life Group Leaders
  • Organize and hold regular training and support events for leadership development.
  • Oversee crisis counseling scenarios requested by Life Group leaders.
  • Assist in development of and teaching of pre-service classes.
  • Aid in the development of men’s and women’s ministry events and ministries


Volunteer Supervision and Development Duties

Oversee the volunteer ministry teams and their development.

  • Train and equip adult leaders to serve on ministry teams (Life Groups, Finance, Outreach, etc.).
  • Recruit for, develop and maintain various volunteer teams.
  • Oversee the scheduling of ministry team meetings to ensure continued flow of ministry.


Outreach Duties

Oversee and execute evangelism and outreach efforts.

  • Aid in creation and execution of outreach events (Trunk or Treat, Community Events, etc.)
  • Work with Upper Merion and Treddiferin schools, police and fire departments, to develop relationships for outreach.
  • Spend weekly time in our community, at coffee shops, schools, parks, etc., building relationships.
  • Develop evangelism and outreach training events for church members.


Other Pastoral Tasks

  • Participate in pastoral care activities such as discipleship and counseling, marriage services and funerals, hospital calls, visitation and other visits of need.
  • Engage and support the broader ministries of Christ Church
  • Assist in the weekly development of life-giving, high-impact worship services.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the senior pastor.
