Salary: $13,000
*Note: This job can be combined with our current open youth minister position, which would pay $25,000 annually total, but still be bivocational.
Job Summary:
The Music Minister will effectively lead and organize an active music ministry that glorifies God through the music ministry of our church, including Sunday morning worship services, and helping to lead and develop a more extensive music ministry through other avenues in our church.
Job Description:
-Organize and lead Sunday morning worship services
-Lead the praise band in rehearsal
-Recruit and train volunteers to assist in the music ministry as needed
-Work with Proclaim media to have the songs displayed during the service
-Establish relationships with church members to help them grow in their faith
-Oversee the music ministry budget
-Attend weekly staff meeting
-Seek for the overall growth and edification of the entire church
-Submit to the guidance and vision of the Lead Pastor and elder body
-Other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor
Job Qualifications:
-Have been obedient to Romans 10:9 and have followed in believer’s baptism by immersion after conversion
-Not be a recent convert (have been a Christian for at least 5 years)
-Have a sense of God’s calling into ministry
-Have a growing relationship with God, reading His Word and praying daily in your own personal life
-Be a self-motivated leader, capable of developing a vision for music ministry, communicating that vision to others, and recruiting others to join you in accomplishing that vision.
-Be a strong communicator and organizer
-Be dependable to work hard with minimal supervision
-Be proficient (or comfortable with becoming proficient) with Faithlife Proclaim Media
Calvary Baptist Church is located at 6704 Old Jacksonville Hwy in a fast growing area of Tyler, Texas. We are a Southern Baptist Church and also part of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, and we adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. We are a church of about 75 dedicated members (as of December 2021), and we have steadily grown over the past year, with the addition of 14 new members in 2021. On Sunday mornings, we typically have a blended music service, with a full praise band, utilizing gospel centered truth from hymns of old and new music alike to lead our congregation in worship, which is followed by expository preaching. We are an elder led congregation and currently have 4 elders, one of which is our lead pastor. We also have a deacon body that tends to the physical needs of our church.
Our elders would also affirm the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith (with the exception of the Sabbath, as we are not Sabbatarian). We would require than our staff be friendly to the reformed view of the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith.
Calvary also has 2 different schools that meet on our campus. One is Venture, which is a homeschool co-op, which has over 250 students, and Bridgemark School which is a full-time school that has over 100 students.
