Job Description

PURPOSE:
Lead students & families to become fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION:
Champion the development, coordination, promotion, evaluation and success of a comprehensive student ministry to win and to disciple students from grades 5th - 12th.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Cast a vision for Student Ministries and establish its goals in line with the mission and vision of GCC. Collaborate with the Family Minister to implement goals and strategies as well as evaluate program elements.
II. Oversee and develop all programming for Student Ministries, which includes but is not limited to evangelistic training and outreach, discipleship training and teaching, worship services, small groups, camps, retreats, mission trips, and special projects. Specific programming emphases will include: strategies that foster growth in their relationship with Jesus and relationships that equip them to evangelize and serve.
III. Develop partnerships with parents that equip them to:
- Know the needs of their students
- Lead their students in spiritual experiences
- Strengthen their family life
- Articulate and live a Christ-centered worldview
- Serve Christ as a family in the church & community.
IV. Development of Volunteers
- Recruit, equip, and shepherd student ministry team members.
- Promote a culture of disciple-making.
V. Plan, oversee, and administer the Student Ministries budget & calendar.
VI. Support the overall mission and ministries of GCC with time, talent, and treasures.

REQUIREMENTS:
I. Committed follower of Jesus with a passion for God’s Word and people, demonstrating a daily pursuit of a Christ-centered life by being committed to personal growth, servant leadership, and personal discipling relationships.
II. Agrees with and upholds the overall mission and strategy of GCC.
III. Is excited by the opportunity to work in a church that is growing and desires to see that growth reflected in students and families.
IV. Has a teachable spirit and willingness to learn under godly leaders.
V. A video of preaching/teaching/leading will be required for an interview.

Education and Experience
I. Youth Ministries or other Bible College degree preferred, but not required.
II. 2 years experience ministry experience preferred, but not required.
III. References from personal spiritual mentors / disciple-makers is required.

Relationship Skills
I. Exhibits strong people skills and can work effectively with the staff, team leaders and members. Particular strengths must be exhibited in consistent and accurate communication skills, conflict resolution skills, and team building skills.
II. Demonstrates a shepherd’s heart to all persons under his/her leadership.
III. Has visionary leadership skills: must have a grasp of youth culture and a vision to reach the students inside and outside the church.
IV. Is an authentic communicator. Must be a biblical and relational communicator with a track record of being used by God to change lives.
V. Organizes and plans effectively.
