GABC is seeking a pastor who, without question, meets the qualifications set out in 1 Timothy 3 & Titus 1. We believe these passages along with others establishes the basis for which all pastors are called and held accountable.
The vision statement of GABC states that we are “A Grand Church fulfilling the Great Commission and the Great Commandment”. We seek a pastor that will come alongside us and shepherd us towards fulfilling that vision.
Fulfilling the Great Commission is ever-changing. Established programs and techniques are becoming less effective and we seek a pastor that can help establish new and innovative evangelism methods. We seek a pastor who will lead us to be involved in the community, someone who realized that the mission field is not within the walls of the church building but “out there” in a lost and dying world.
Our goal should not just be saving souls, although extremely important, but to ultimately give God glory in all that we say and do. This can only be accomplished by following the Great Commandment. We seek a pastor who will preach, teach, lead, and disciple people to love the Lord our God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength; preach expository messages that challenge people intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually to make Jesus supreme in their lives; preach messages that cover the entirety of the Word, not forsaking the “hard stuff”; teach and disciple people the greater truths of scripture moving beyond the pure milk to a greater more mature knowledge of the Word; teach and disciple people to disciple others thereby multiplying themselves and the Kingdom; lead the congregation to have a unified vision bringing together all age groups for one purpose; and lastly, help create a worship environment that stirs the spirit and promotes a freedom to respond. (Ephesians 4, 1 Timothy 4)
Alongside this vision, we seek a person who is a leader; who can lead staff and lay leader; someone who understands the importance of leading by example; someone who cares for the flock during times of illness and death; and someone who connects with people on a personal level and seeks to be involved in their lives.
Most of all, we seek God’s man. We desire more than anything to find the man God has already prepared to lead Grand Avenue Baptist Church.
