Director of Children, Youth and Family
Ministry Purpose:
To develop the youth program through spiritual, organizational, and administrative leadership and strengthen the individual’s commitment to the church and faith. To introduce, instruct, and nurture the children and youth in their Christian faith through Bible study, prayer, fellowship, worship, and service. To assist the church in broader outreach to the church and community through coordinating events in the community and in the church.
Compensation: Compensation based on education and experience. The position will be an exempt (salaried) position.
Responsibilities:
2. As time allows, this individual can use his/her strengths to enhance the ministries of First/Grace. Some possible areas of service include: outreach/humanitarian/social justice work, event planning, worship leadership and/or communications/social media.
General Job Requirements:
Accountable to: the Pastor (direct supervisor) and other designated members.
Supported by: Christian Education Team, Youth Team, Personnel Team, Worship and Music Team, and Church Councils of First Lutheran and Grace Lutheran

First Lutheran is located in beautifully diverse community in Southwestern MN. We have a formalized relationship with Grace Lutheran (country church) and engage in several ecumenical partnerships and programs. We host both Sunday and Wednesday worship services. We have a variety of circles and Bible Studies which take place both within and outside of the church. Our choir is active during the school year. Youth activities include Confirmation, Kids for Christ (after school Wednesday children's program), Youth Group, Encounter (ecumenical youth group), service activities/trips, fundraisers and more. Visitation to the elderly and nursing homes is a priority of our congregation. We host an Ethiopian Orthodox congreation/daycare in our building, provide opportunities to learn about/support cultures living in our community, and engage in various feeding/clothing ministry efforts. Our membership includes people of all ages and social/political bends. We strive to be open and welcoming to all who enter our space.
