Worship Director Position


Job Description:


We are looking to hire a worship director to lead, guide, and develop the music and worship ministry at Calvary Chapel Community Church. All musical and worship aspects associated with our weekend gatherings will be planned, prepped, and led by this person.


Denomination: Non-denominational/Calvary Global Network affiliate


Location: Portland, Oregon (Westside Suburb)

·       Able and willing to work a part-time schedule.

·       This person has a “can-do” attitude and has a willing heart with things that may come up and are outside of their job description.

·       Has a deep desire to fulfill God’s will and share Jesus Christ with the world!


Key Competencies


·       Skilled as a vocalist and able to help other vocalists with learning and singing harmonies.

·       Proficient in leading worship while playing the guitar, and/or piano.

·       Able to lead bands and musicians with a variety of skill levels and musical understandings.

·       Competent in leading contemporary Christian, and modern gospel music (Our most recent music sets include Battle Belongs – Phil Wickham, Way Maker - Leeland, King of Glory – Kristian Stanfill, God Turn it Around – Jon Reddick, Goodness of God – Jenn Johnson).

·       Proficient with arranging music sets through Ableton live.

·       Experienced with the planning center scheduling platform.

·       Working knowledge of pro presenter.

·       Capable of playing proficiently to clicks, tracks, and/or loops.

·       Able to develop new worship leaders.

·       Able to lead and direct practices effectively.

·       Has a strong work ethic and is a team player.

·       Understanding of and ability to give direction to technical volunteers and teams.


Duties and Responsibilities:


·       Work with the lead pastor to pursue a shared vision for worship ministry, and weekly services.

·       Build song sets, lead practices, and lead worship for weekly gatherings.

·       Provide oversight of equipment maintenance. 

·       Recruit, train, and develop new worship team members.

·       Partner with church leadership and be willing to support church leadership in Word and Deed.

·       Recruit, train, and develop volunteer teams.

·       Pursue authentic relationships with those on your team and in the church.


Salary: Negotiable based on experience.
