Job Description

The Children’s Ministry has been a strength of New Life Community Church for decades. We offer Sunday morning classes and nursery for birth through 5th grade. Every Wednesday, AWANA gets the entire church to itself. Some of our special events include a Christmas musical, community Easter Egg Hunt, 5-day clubs (which is our version of VBS done out at community parks), and a Good News Club that meets after school at Vassar Elementary.

We are searching for someone who can not only continue our current programming but is also willing to adapt and change the ministry to better minister to families and their children.

Primary Responsibilities

Owner of the Children’s Ministry development, direction and execution

1. Cast vision and set yearly ministry goals in alignment with New Life and Next Gen Team
2. Plan and execute weekly gatherings (Sunday morning and AWANA) and special events in alignment with the vision and direction
3. Observe, evaluate and adjust ministry for effectiveness
4. Chief culture officer who cultivates a fun environment that loves Jesus, children and families of all nations

Provide team leadership for the Children’s Ministry

1. Oversee, develop and evaluate paid Children’s Ministry staff: Elementary Coordinator (18 hours), Early Childhood Coordinator (7 hours), New Life Kidz Intern (5 hours)
2. Recruit, develop and shepherd disciple-making volunteers: AWANA leaders, Sunday class teachers and helpers, nursery workers, event volunteers, etc.
3. Appropriately delegate responsibilities

Provide practical and administrative leadership to the Children’s Ministry

1. Children’s Ministry planning, organizing and scheduling
2. Check and approve all curriculum used
3. Develop systems that streamline the ministry
4. Design and update posters, announcements, bulletin boards and emails
5. Responsible planning, spending and accountability of a $16,000 budget
6. Communicate effectively and timely to parents, volunteers and staff

Provide ministry care to children and their families: praying, visiting, coaching and discipling

Oversee, communicate and enforce the church’s approved child protection policy and safety protocols

1. Ensure the safety of every child who is entrusted to the Children’s Ministry
2. Organize systematic cleaning of toys
3. Update the New Life Child Protection Policy when needed
4. Run all adult background checks for both Children’s and Youth Ministry
5. Know and train safety protocols such as fire, severe weather, lockdown, etc.
6. Cancel ministry when needed due to weather

Other Responsibilities

1. Contributing team member of the Next Gen Team (one meeting per month for a total of 2 hours)
2. Attend all-staff meetings (twice per month for a total of 2 hours)

Compensation

1. Salary: $41,000
2. Healthcare: New Life pays 75% of employee healthcare
3. Life and Disability: New Life pays 100%
4. Retirement: New Life matches retirement contributions up to 3%
