Position: Communications Director
Supervisor: Executive Pastor
Position Status: Full-time, Exempt
Position Summary
The Communications Director works directly with the Executive Pastor in maintaining and creating a high level of excellence in creativity, internal and external communications, appearance and communications of the vision and values of the church. This includes strategic development and planning for the marketing of sermon series as well as the communication and promotion of all Epikos Church events in addition to weekly communications to support Sunday services. The Communications Director must be able to think strategically and provide input on the overall communications plan for Epikos Church as well as the management of creative team members.
Job Expectations & Responsibilities
Leadership:
- Act as a Creative Director and Project Manager for the members of the Communications Team by managing their weekly workloads and reviewing all work done by team members.
- Work with Ministry Leaders to promote Epikos Church events such as Baptism, Child Dedications, Step Into Serving, Small Groups Recruiting and Registration, Epikos Kids and Students events, and more.
- Evaluate and respond to communications requests from Ministry Leaders as they arise throughout the year.
Strategy:
- Research and develop new technologies, media, web, print, production, environments and experiences to better implement the visions and values of the church.
- Oversee Epikos Church brand consistency in all media, print and video production.
- Measures and improves the effectiveness of marketing and communication strategies.
- Storyboard/script, produce and review edits of videos produced by the Media Specialist that are used on Epikos.org, social media, and in-services
Communication:
- Update, create content and provide quality control for all forms of media communication (website, Facebook, Instagram).
- Work with Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor to assist in the creative and communications process for the Sunday worship experience, including weekly announcements and bulletins.
- Copywrite and send external communications including mass emails via Mailchimp and quarterly giving statements.
- Oversee the design and printing process for sermon study guides and sermon slides/pre-service slides.
- Plan and create themes and invitational materials for Christmas and Easter.
Qualifications
- BS/BA degree in communications/marketing related field.
- 5+ years of prior marketing, advertising, communication or related experience.
- Ability to manage the communications department which is made up of a graphic designer, media specialist, and external contractors.
- Ability to act as a copywriter and ghostwriter for congregation-facing communications.
- Three years experience in full-time ministry or ministry-related position.
- Experience with social media marketing and website management.
- Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite of products.
- Ability to do basic design.
- Understand and embrace the vision, values, and culture of Epikos Church.
- Strategic in nature, with the ability to see and implement the steps that it takes to get from here to there.
- Self-motivated, without the need for micromanagement, and team-oriented.
