Job Description

1.  POSITION TITLE: Student Pastor

 

2.  CHARACTERISTICS AND ABILITIES:

3.  SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Student Pastor, as a staff member, shall develop a ministry with 7th thru 12th grade students which will enable them to become informed, committed, and become active disciples of Jesus Christ, appropriate to their age levels. This ministry will invite students to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, guide them in their moral, spiritual, and social development; nurture them through caring groups, equip them for responsible service in their church, society and world while providing missional opportunities domestically and or internationally.

 

The Student Pastor will serve as a representative of First Baptist Church within the community (schools, service clubs, area churches…) and will foster a Christian relationship with a variety of community members through Christian Education, witness, outreach and service.

 

4.  ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Student Pastor will be directly accountable to the Senior Pastor.

 

5.  SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE POSITION:

1.      Reach unreached students and develop those already engaged. Make every effort to connect students with the greater church body.

2.      Engage students during school lunch hours, student extracurricular activities, and after school at the Family Life Center, and monthly youth activities.

3.      Coordinate volunteers and assists those volunteers for service in any church ministry such as, but not limited to, Sunday School, youth praise band, evangelism outreach, summer camp, mid-week Bible study or local/national/international mission work.

4.      Direct the development, implementation and evaluation of the youth ministry

5.      Develop an annual budget and practice sound accounting principles

6.      Recruit and train teachers and volunteers. Provide opportunities for volunteer training

7.      Enlist parental and congregational support

8.      Oversee the process of choosing appropriate curriculum and acquire all necessary supplies for the student ministry volunteers.

9.      Create missional opportunities.

10.  Oversee, maintain and improve youth ministry facilities and equipment.

11.  Organize and coordinate key activities, trips, camps and evangelistic opportunities as well as regular weekly youth services.

12.  Develop and coordinate a discipleship ministry that assists students in spiritual growth.

 

6.  HOURS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

The Student Pastor is expected to maintain regular office hours as set forth by the Senior Pastor and will available on Sunday mornings, Sunday Evenings and Wednesday evenings for services.

About First Baptist Church

We are a small-town, county seat, First Baptist Church. Our Sunday morning worship style is blended and more contemporary on Sunday nights. We currently have 3 Sunday morning services on two campuses. Including our vacant Youth Minister position we have 6 full-time ministerial staff. The senior pastor has served at our Church for 30 years 14 of those as lead pastor. We serve in a recreational area of Missouri where people love fishing, hunting, and camping, we are located a few miles from a trout hatchery and slightly further from Table Rock lake. We are a loving and missional church that believes in praying, giving, and going.
