Graphic Designer

The role of the Graphic Designer is to provide both quality graphic design for print and digital communication, as well as engaging promotional presentations through motion graphics, drawings, and photography. This is a fulltime, exempt (salaried) position and reports to the Communications Director.

Job Responsibilities

Essential duties:

·       Responsible to create fresh, branded designs to meet ministry partners’ communications needs in print, digital, motion graphics and web graphics

·       Brainstorms and follows through with design concepts that accurately reflect ministry partners’ goals and messages

·       Provides occasional availability to take photographs at special events

·       Applies artistic skills to construct tactile installations or other promotional exhibitions

·       Attends to details, and adheres to budgetary and time constraints

·       Continues to learn and keeps current on industry trends and best practices

·       Works with vendors and printing companies as needed

·       Tracks projects using the project management software, Basecamp

·       Participates in weekly staff meetings, team meetings, and regular one-on-one checkpoints with Director

Other duties:

·       Provide support and direction for volunteer photographers

·       Cross-train and provide backup coverage to other communications team members in the event of their absence

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Faith-Based

·       Personal relationship with Jesus Christ

·       Evidence of growing maturity as a disciple of Christ

·       Agreement with Berean Baptist Church statement of faith

·       Establish membership with Berean Baptist Church within six months

Professional

·       Either a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or Fine Art OR a minimum of five years of experience in graphic design and various modes of communication

·       Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and video design tools

·       Knowledge and expertise in print media, computer graphics, video and web design

·       Enjoys working in a team-based environment and desires to collaborate with others

·       Understanding of organizational dynamics and balances productivity, creativity and relationships

·       Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to client satisfaction

Work Conditions

Will most generally work weekday hours; occasional hours on weekends and evenings to support events and ministry activities. Required serving participation at two of four faith family celebrations and at all Easter & Christmas services unless otherwise approved.
