Description Cherokee Baptist Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The church was founded in 1923. Prior to 1923 it was known as the Cherokee Mission. We are located on the Qualla Boundary which are the tribal lands of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Our members include tribal and non-tribal members. Our town and community is located in the beautiful Smoky Mountains. Opportunities for outdoor recreation abound. We are located approximately 50 miles west of Asheville, NC.
