Church Description
Located in the growing southwest suburbs of Kansas City, Kaw Prairie Community Church is a young, energetic, and inclusive community church, affiliated with two denominations for accountability and mission (ELCA and PCUSA). Our mission is to change lives with Jesus' love--and we do that striving to trust Jesus, grow as disciples, and bless others with our lives.
We offer meaningful worship both in-person and online. Indoor in-person worship resumes January 6, with families worshiping together and receiving communion in the first part of the service, and children then leaving for an age- segmented family ministry program while adults hear a relevant message and sing the closing song(s). The messages are Bible-based and topical, the services are vibrant and contemporary, and the ancient sacraments and occasional hymnody connect us to the saints who've gone before. We’re particularly excited about the post-pandemic chapter ahead, with its new opportunities to share the Good News and great peace of Jesus in an increasingly distracted and diverse culture—and we’re eager for a teammate who wants to add their gifts to the effort!

Located in the growing and increasingly multi-cultural southwest suburbs of Kansas City, Kaw Prairie Community Church is a young, energetic, and inclusive community church, affiliated with two denominations for accountability and mission (ELCA and PCUSA). We're all about changing lives with Jesus' love—with a 3-fold path to living out God's purpose: trusting Jesus, growing as disciples, and blessing others with our lives. We're led by our founding pastor and supported by a dedicated, experienced team of elders.
We aim to offer warm welcomes, great ministries, and thoughtful, energetic, ancient-future worship, on campus and online. We worship together and take communion in the first 25 minutes, then children depart with teachers to the children's wing for an age-segmented educational program while adults hear the message and close the service with the final song(s). Messages are Bible-based and real-life relevant-- sometimes exegetical, sometimes topical. The services are vibrant, casual, and largely contemporary, with occasional hymnody or liturgical elements to connect us to the saints who've gone before us in following Christ, and point us outward to bless the world he died to save. Our staff works hard, laughs often, grows leaders, trusts one another, and tries new things when existing things aren't working--and we’re eager for a teammate who wants to add their calling and gifts to the effort!
