Aldersgate United Methodist Church is seeking applicants for the position of Youth Director. In this role you’ll be responsible for managing the youth ministry program for children in grades 6–12. This is a full-time, year round position in which you have the ability to craft and direct a program that helps youth to grow in faith, participate fully in the life of the Church, and to become disciples of Jesus Christ.
Aldersgate is a thriving congregation in Wichita, Kansas with an average worship attendance of about 450. We are located in a suburban neighborhood and are known in the community as a church with an excellent children's ministry and missional presence. As the youth pastor, you would benefit from this by serving in a congregation that is highly committed to and invested in children and youth.
The primary tasks of our youth ministry are:
• Love youth where they are {Engaging youth regardless of race, color, creed, or sexual orientation}
• Encourage youth in developing their relationship to God {Serve as a mentor & coach in their spiritual journey}
• Provide them with opportunities to nurture relationships, deepen their experience of the church, and build community both locally and globally.
To qualify:
A professed faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
A call and passion for working with and mentoring youth
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
High School Diploma required, Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
The ability to successfully complete a background check and Safe Gatherings training (renewed every four years.)
Experience in teaching and/or theological education preferred.
Certification in CPR, AED use, and First Aid preferred – required within six months of hire.
Must have a personal and deep care for the local church; membership at Aldersgate UMC is not required.
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement, preferred - required within six months of hire.
